Spring has come to Palisse, in fact it's hit 30 degrees in the past few days! Very pleased with the work Nick Magee-Brown has done with the flooring in the master bedroom. As usual we will be offering pre-season deals for anyone fancying a break to do a bit of walking, cycling or relaxing in the beautiful Dordogne countryside. All through May and the first week of June, max 6 people, the pool will not be open but if that's not an issue please contact to discuss.

Time to open up again, very excited to see the work done on the master bedroom (new natural wood floor fitted to replace the old vinyl flooring, will post some pictures in due course). As in previous years we are offering special rates for pre-season bookings so if you fancy a few days away in May please get in touch (the pool won't be open but if your preference is for walking or cycling or just getting away somewhere quiet and picturesque it could be the ideal place for you) In the main season we have one week still available, July 18-25. Bonnes vacances...

Winter sunshine in Palisse, and the new abri approaching completion, just the guttering and new water butt to fit now. Will be starting to take bookings for summer 2025 in the next few weeks so please send a message with any enquiries or for further info.

The terrace totally cleared of tables, chairs, cushions, pool toys etc..Why? Because in a week or so the "abri" (the canopy) will be taken down and a new one built (it's been showing signs of subsidence for a while and wouldn't want it to collapse on somebody!)

For the first time since we bought the house we decided to take a trip to the seaside, at Royan (about 75 miles away, nice drive mostly through vineyards). Very nice little town with a beach, and splendid modern cathedral. If you visit the cathedral don't be put off by the outside which is a cross between a prison and a Soviet-era apartment block, the interior is stunning.

Taking the curtains down from the barn doors, probably the first time in several years.. involved ladders, precarious balancing and a certain amount of swearing. A lot of shield bugs awoken from their slumber and shown the door, and cobwebs removed from the higher reaches of the salle à manger.
