🌱🦉🪺spring is always surprising. Somehow we forget its intensity until we live once again in its beauty. Iridescent greens, bucolic landscapes highlighted by the early golden rays of the sun cutting through the cold crisp morning air. The beautiful racket of birdsong 🐦‍⬛. Hope springs eternal 🐝

🌲With a mighty crash our beautiful sequoia split in half and fell on the house🙈. Then before we had time to take the remaining part down, the last raging storm caused it to split in half again and that part landed on the house too. I loved that tree, yes it was planted far too close to the house but it was beautiful & a home to many 🐦‍⬛🦉🐿️. Roughly 120 years in the making, it would surely have some stories to tell. On the bright side, its wood is beautiful, we’re going to try to mill it to make something to remember the 🌲 by. And of course, we also need to fix the house. Just when we thought we had finished ! 🪵

⚜️L’abbaye de Saint-Maurice de Blasimon

📜legend has it that in 980 the abbot of Blasimon gave the Squirs of La Réole (the Squirs were the monastary of La Réole who owned the site of Blasimon in its charters) an allotment of vines 🍇🍷 for the salvation of his soul and the souls of his parents. The abbot was called Maurice. He was made a saint & the Abbey is dedicated to him

🏛️Its church was built somewhere between the XI & XIII centuries. In 1587 the Abbey was besieged by the Huguenots & it’s monks fled to Sauveterre. In 1778 most of the Abbey was dismantled. Only the cloister built in the XII centuries remains

🌳The remnants of these tales etched in stone dot the country side of the Gironde. They are just a tiny part of a very long & layered past
