19th century former hotel/restaurant now a B&B, 2 rooms, 1 en suite, able to answer in French, Spanish or Italian. Nice village with excellent restaurant and bar/snack/bistro with easy connections to Parthenay, St Maixent l'Ecole and well placed for Futuroscope, Puy du Fou, La Rochelle and Marais Poitevin.

Well here we are in another lockdown..in France it's known as a "confinement"..same word in English means a woman who's pregnant! I can tell you we are all waiting for the baby to be born..like when are the bars and restaurants going to open!! It's OK buying beer from the bar and drinking at home but it's not as good as being with your mates and having a good session with a few beers is it? Seriously though folks, there are some bars/restaurants who are not going to survive this lockdown although in the village the 2 places are doing takeaways and just keeping their heads above water. But does anyone out there agree that we are being managed by idiots both in the UK and France? With a little bit of intelligence and forward thinking ( is that possible with politicians?) this could have been handled a lot better. From our point of view we have had fewer clients this year but we just have to resign ourselves to the situation and go with the flow. I'm not so sure next year will be much better but hey, let's be positive and hope that this virus will be contained. Both our son and daughter in law have had the virus but thankfully have recovered. It's all about looking after each other and taking care of ourselves. Take care all of you out there and you know that if ever you want some first class accommodation in this lovely part of France, you will be welcomed with open arms,( provided that you bring some good bottles of wine with you!!) Toodle pip and love from us 2!

We are in the midst of a very unfortunate period where we cannot welcome any clients to our B&B and furthermore, we have just learned that the Tour de France has been postponed until the end of August. At least it hasn't been cancelled, unlike loads of other events in the coming months. We just have to grin and bear it and take all the necessary precautions in order to avoid this awful virus. We wish all our past and future clients the best of health..and stay at home and observe the social distancing recommendations. Don't be covidiots! Take care and stay safe! Keith & Carol.

Forgot to mention in the last posting that the Tour de France will be passing about 4 kms from us on the 8th July, so, if you want to see it first hand then book in with us and we'll give you some hints as to where you can get a great view of the action. But hurry because I think that we are going to get lots of enquiries! In other words, get on your bikes!!

August is filling up too..no vacancies between 10th and 17th! Oh and it's a beautiful sunny day here in Reffannes, so David Halkett and party will enjoy sunny days for the next couple of weeks! Hello again from the metropolis of Reffannes! We are steadily getting booked up for the next few months with visitors from Spain and the UK. If you want to reserve a night or two then early May or June are available. We have had many visitors who have also eaten at the Dix Vingt restaurant opposite and nobody yet has had a bad word..try the lunchtime menu during the week at 12 Euros..it's a steal!
If anyone is interested in visiting some vineyards not too far away in the Loire valley or Haut Poitou regions then we have some very good recommendations..all vetted personally by the management here!
We look forward to hearing from you and hope that you have a good summer wherever you are.
Cheers from Keith & Carol
