Our Story
Our private suite at Montaurand is available on a chambres d'notes / B&B basis all year round.
Sleep soundly in the King size bed in our large beautifully decorated master bedroom with ensuite bathroom with bath and separate free standing shower, then relax in your private dressing room/living room with antique french day bed, armchairs and lots of hanging space.
Breakfast is served between 830am-10am with gorgeous locally sourced produce and fresh country breads, croissant and pain au chocolate.
We are perfectly positioned between Angouleme, the brocante markets of the Dordogne and the wine country of Cognac & Bordeaux. A great spot to explore the central region of France and easily accessible by Road from the main motorway routes, Rail to Angouleme and Air to Bordeaux and Limoges.
Montaurand is set in fields where our pet and rare Skudde sheep live amongst the rolling chestnut forests of the Charente. Its calm, serene & peaceful. Wake up each day to birdsong and wonderful views before enjoying your lovely breakfast in our swedish Gustavian style dining room.
The house has been designed in a fusion of Swedish Gustavian and French Brocante styles by owner Madeleine Lee through her company Swedish Interior Design and has recently been featured in Jean d'Arc Living magazine (may 2017) for its stunning interiors.
With plenty of local restaurants and brasseries and local food markets, its a gourmets paradise and theres always the weekly antique brocantes to find your new treasures on days of exploration.
The private suite sleeps 2 and is priced at 139 Euro per night including breakfast with a 2 night minimum stay.
