I remember when my parents in the 80's moved to India, and later when my friends Kevin and Laura moved to Dubai, hearing of their incredible expat communities. And now here I am in France and I have a double-whammy - inclusion by the locals with wonderful conversation, delicious food, and you can only imagine the wine! But also a great expat group of English speaking people who are here either fulltime or parttime, enjoying France and adjoining countries with gusto.
This has been my week - Saturday market meetup for coffee with the expat group - really lovely people; dinner at Corinne and Jean-Felix' with 3 other people. Then nails and pedicure by Corinne on Tuesday as I'm going to be traveling for the next little bit. While there, I meet one of her clients - Manu (short for Emanuelle) who happens to own a hair studio next to her home in a town nearby. So I went there this morning as I was long overdue for a haircut, and we are talking and she thinks I should meet Lise from South Africa. So Lise comes over and we have a great little chat and all of a sudden we exchange numbers and "I must come" to ladies days where we shall have cocktails in different locations. One of her friends also runs a bnb and loves to cook. And Lise's husband owns a restaurant in Beaune. All people after my own heart.
And by the end of this week, I'll be reunited with 2 of my 3 kids and their husbands and my stunning baby girl granddaughters.
Not sure that life gets any better than this!
