☀️ What a week it’s been in the Tarentaise…

We’ve loved hosting family and friends for a brilliant few days of skiing and snowboarding under sunny skies.

Down in the valley, just minutes away from the snowy pistes, it’s been a different world — 21°C and warm enough for cycling in shorts, with beautiful hikes through the forest and even a chance to start pruning the vines in our little vineyard.

The perfect balance of mountain adventure and slow valley life, finished each evening with delicious home-cooked food and plenty of laughter around the table.

Weeks like this remind us just how special life in the Alps can be.

❄️ Snow falling, fire glowing… it’s been a proper winter wonderland week here at the chalet. The snowfall has been incredible — heavy, steady and utterly magical. Some of the local summits have had over 4 metres this week!

This week we’ve had the pleasure of hosting a lovely English family and their three children. Despite the dramatic conditions, they’ve skied every single day — discovering new corners of Les Arcs and La Plagne, chasing the best snow, embracing the mountain in all its moods.

There’s something very special about a ski holiday in real alpine weather. Fresh powder underfoot, swirling snowflakes, quiet forests, cosy evenings together after a full day outside.

Weeks like this remind us why we love what we do. The Tarentaise at its most beautiful. Families making memories. Snow globe scenes out of the window.

We had such a great time with The Lovely Chalet Company yesterday. Beautiful skiing at Sainte Foy Tarentaise and a wonderful local mountain hike, followed by a delicious lunch with friends at 1580m. Life in les Alpes, c’est magnifique!

Having hosted some wonderful guests in the chalet, Italians, Belgian, and French guests before Christmas, who all enjoyed some amazing skiing in Les Arcs and a wonderful Dutch family on Boxing Day, it's now time to enjoy hosting our own family for the week. New guest arrivals in January will enjoy the fresh snow forecast for the Tarentaise Valley. We wish you all a very happy New Year!

We've been decorating the chalet for Christmas and are beginning to feel festive. We're looking forward to welcoming our first skiing guests in a week's time ⛷️🎄⛄

Daily snowfall this week is sure to give a great start to the ski season next week. A cold and crisp morning walk up to the chairlift above Séez was followed by another delicious menu tasting. French brioche toast with a red berry compote, a perfect way to start your skiing day. And a sweet chilli encrusted salmon fillet with roasted sweet potato rounds for the end of the day.

While fresh snow has been falling on the high mountain tops, we have been busy creating and tasting a new potato dish. Roasted sweet potato with paprika, carefully seasoned with sea salt flakes and black pepper, crumbled feta cheese, walnuts, basil and a generous drizzle of local honey. Absolutely delicious 😋

The days are getting chillier and the mountain tops have been white since October. Between crisp autumn walks, we continue to plan our winter chalet menu. Today we're experimenting with an orange infused chocolate pud with a dash of Baileys and a ginger crumb base. It has now been unanimously voted onto the guest menu, and soon to be enjoyed by our first guests arriving mid-December.
