Provence has a market every day somewhere, but they’re not all the same. Some are best for fresh produce, others for antiques, textiles, or local specialties, and a few are worth planning your day around.

I’ve rounded up the markets I think are most worth seeking out, plus when to visit and what each one does best, in the first comment 👇

Not every market in Provence is worth rearranging your itinerary for.

Some are known for food, others for antiques, local crafts or the great atmosphere. A few are genuine highlights of a trip, while others are better if they happen to fit your route.

I've put together a guide to the markets I think are most worth prioritising, along with when to go and what to expect. First comment 👇

Eating outside in Provence is often less about the food itself (although, as you can imagine, that is often incredible too!) than where you’re sitting. A terrace under the trees, a lively square, or a table facing the view can easily become the main reason you chose the restaurant.

I’ll share some of my favourite places to dine outdoors in Provence - from my favourite picnic spots, to some very special restaurants - below (first comment 👇)
