And so we start. May 2018. I finally stopped moving around for probably the first time in 20 years. We had owned the chateau for a while but had work commitments elsewhere for a long while. In 2018 the gardens and château were superficially beautiful but had deep-rooted problems that we needed to tackle if it was to become a dynamic, working estate and home again. The gardens were always our favourite place to be. Especially at the front, with views of the Alps and the Ardèche mountains. But as with much of this place, if were to undo some of the damage of the 20th century and return it to its glorious heyday then it needs to get worse before it gets better!
