Everytime again it is a joy to witness the opening of hearts and the power of connection when people go through a retreat together. Both for guides and participants. It never fails to warm our hearts for why we have our retreat center and offer all the retreats with these beautiful people who make a choice to reconnect.

We worden dit jaar geinspireerd door onze vrijwilligers. met Iris (een goeie kok) gooiden we onszelf op de creatie van veganistische smeersels. Haar recepten van cashew smeerkaas en erwtjessmeersel houden we erin hoor, maar er waren er nog veel meer.

In augustus vallen de sterren altijd uitbundig, dus tijd voor een fake campfire. We mogen met deze droogte nog niet in de buurt van een lucifer komen, maar de nepkaarsen van de action blijken totaal sfeervol.

Ik mocht wel 10 wensen doen, wat wens jij?

How cool is it, when we get these wondrous volunteers who, besides washing up and cleaning and helping for a retreat to run smoothly in the background(which is enormously appreciated) also get to offer and share their skills. And sometimes there is even more and we adopt each other as family. We love you Noortje you are and will continue to create the most beautiful soundscapes.

Samen met je vader op retraite komen is zó bijzonder. Je stapt beiden even uit de dagelijkse rollen en maakt nieuwe herinneringen. Geen to-do’s, geen snel bakkie koffie. Wel tijd. Echte gesprekken (of juist even niets hoeven zeggen). En de natuur die zachtjes meehelpt.

Bij Simply Canvas Farm zien we het regelmatig: moeders en dochters, vaders en zonen, partners of zussen. Soms komen jullie om iets te vieren. Soms om weer dichterbij elkaar te komen. Soms gewoon omdat het leven druk is geworden en jullie elkaar missen.
Wat er dan ontstaat is vaak klein en groots tegelijk:
samen wandelen in stilte
samen eten aan lange tafels
een kampvuurgesprek dat je thuis nooit “gepland” krijgt
een retraite omgeving als meditatie, muziek maken, dansen, kampvuur
en vooral: elkaar weer zien en nieuwe herinneringen maken.

Doe het ook eens — neem je vader (of moeder, of partner, of zus of broer) mee. Je hoeft niet te wachten tot “later”.

We just waved all the Digital Detoxers goodbye. What a joy to see phones forgotten quickly, to connect in silence, with laughter, with good conversation. And with loads of music whether with soundhealing of the beautiful or jamming with the (yes that is the bandname now 😁)

There is so much love in these retreats.

I am inspired this year by fast pickling techniques, not only for their nice sweet and sour taste and the fun of using herbs from the garden, but also for their colors. This just looks fab.
