Gites in Dordogne-Chez Hodgkiss

Happy New Year from Chris and Annie Coombs, new owners of 'Chez Hodgkiss' - now known as 'Gites at Maison La Roche'.
We are open from the start of May, you can check availability on our website www.chezhodgkiss.co.uk. As you can tell. we have not quite finished 'rebranding' - for now our priority is getting everything refreshed for our first guests - we already have several bookings from repeat visitors.
We are continuing the previous policy of only renting to one party at a time, to ensure a tranquil holiday break.

Good morning everyone. At last it looks as if France is beginning to open up which is good news for us all residents and holiday makers alike. We have welcomed our first guests of the season, a family from Paris, desperate to see some countryside after a lockdown in a flat. We are empty through to July 3 at the moment, but fully booked through to October 3 this year and already booked for tha 60% for next year!
Our big news to share is that after 10 very happy years here in the Dordogne with our very successful gites, we have decided the time has come for us to re-focus, age catches up and the work doesn't lessen unfortunately, so our home is now on the market, and we hope to move this autumn. We are very hopeful than any future owners will carry on with the gites so any future holidays booked should be fine.
The decision has not been easy, and we will leave this delightful home with heavy hearts, but we look back at the lovely time we have enjoyed here and all the great friends we have made particularly amongst our guests.

Well the strange year goes on, we ended up with four transferals to 2021 which left us unoccupied until 25 July.

Then France eased it's travel restrictions internally and within two days we have received three french and one dutch booking, so most of free space now taken. Just a couple of gaps in July 3-9th and15-19 Then anytime after 19 September available.

Weather has been a bit funny also with two massive storms with hail, rain, thunder and lightening but now warm and sunny.

Thus life goes on in paradise!

What a funny old year! So far Chris and I are coping fine in this period but unsure what the 'easing' will bring.
Only received two cancellations so far and both have just moved their bookings to 2021, which means our first guest theoretically will be on 27th June if all goes well with travel etc. Then we have one week free until 11 July and full through to mid September.
We have decided to extend our season through October this year in case anyone is looking for a later holiday. So far all available 19 Sept through to 31 Oct.If anyone is interested please get in touch.
We also have announced a no fee cancellation policy for all bookings so no-one looses out (except us!)

We are on lock-down but the wisteria has opened up beautifully. We are in a lovely place to be isolated in.

First frost of the winter has covered the garden with walnut leaves. Need to clear them up!
