Chez Anne was happy to provide a picnic lunch for this group of cyclists en route from Angouleme to La Rochelle.

They were on a cycling trip with who offer a range of guided and fully supported cycling holidays through the most beautiful regions of France, Normandy , Brittany, Burgundy, Alsace, Provence, Bordeaux, Pyrenees, French Alps, Languedoc and now the beautiful Charente valley!
They cater for every level of rider from beginners to club riders, everything is looked after, from transfers to luggage, delicious meals (on this occasion at a local B&B!) and luxurious hotels. Their guides were David and Susan.
All they have to do is pedal!

This international table includes cyclists from Australia, America, Canada, Switzerland and Britain.

I particularly enjoyed regaling the story to the Australians of my great grandfather who imported three penny farthing cycles to New South Wales and following his early demise, a memorial stone was erected in his memory. It read: In Memory of the English Bicyclist, HERBERT LIDDLE CORTIS, Died at Carcoar, N. S. W., Dec. 28, 1885, Aged 28. Primus Inter Paren, and Amateur Champion of the World. This stone is erected by the cyclists of New South Wales.

A new attraction has arrived on the banks of the Charente river in Jarnac.
With six passengers, you can have apéros and a fine charcuterie lunch with wine, whilst sailing at a leisurely pace through the green banks of the river for a couple of hours. Vegetarians can be catered for.
The lunch table is on the upper level to afford wonderful views, and there is a cover to shade you as you eat, with soft music. We were out on the boat today and the temperature was 34 degrees, but we were all kept cool by a gentle breeze.
The food and drinks are all locally sourced, including Pineau from Menard in St Même and award winning wine from Domaine de Garancille.
The tariff is 70€ per head for a private diners' lunch or 80€ for supper on a three hour boat cruise.

In our constant quest here at Chez Anne to be more ecologically sound and environmentally friendly, we are pleased to announce the arrival of our Who Gives a Crap toilet paper and boxes of tissues.
In addition to the recycled hygiene products (!) we now provide refillable glass water bottles in the rooms, and if you want to make use of the tea and coffee making facilities, a small refillable vacuum flask is available for fresh milk for your room.
We can all do our bit to reduce plastic use.
