Ask for one hour between the last brushstroke and the ceremony.
Not the twenty minutes left over when everything else has run long. A full hour, written into the timeline like any other supplier slot.
Here is what that hour holds. Hair and makeup are done and you are still in the robe, so there are portraits with nothing at stake yet. Your father comes in and sees the dress on its hanger. You crouch down and tell the flower girls exactly what happens and when. Then you step into the dress, and because there is time, that part is not a scramble. And then portraits again, in the dress, before anyone else has seen you in it.

Without it you go from the chair into the dress into the car, and the first calm breath you take is somewhere in the middle of your own ceremony. With it, you walk up the aisle having already had a quiet morning behind you. The day takes its tone from whoever is calmest, and on a wedding morning that person should be you.
One hour, before the ceremony. Put it in and defend it.
