Christmas 2019. Iridescent blue skies, no wind, no rain ( for the moment) no crowds, fabulous truffles, wonderful food, outrageously good wine, walks along country lanes through the fields and vines. That’s an experience!
That’s a holiday destination!

The levels of the canal had to be checked carefully. There was little gradient and gravity had to pull the water from the top pond to the bottom. That was the theory! Our fingers were crossed that it would work. It worked for the Suez Canal. David checked the levels every metre to be sure.

The garden was perfect. The grass was divine. I took a paint bomb and said follow me. Dig along the line that I am drawing on the grass. Fabien the gardener burst into tears. 'Please don't do this!'
I was sure that I knew what I was doing. Almost!

And of course- the Luberon is not just for summertime. Try something completely different. Winter in Provence. What better experience than to have a Christmas in the northern hemisphere. Cold brisk walks then rush in for a glass of champagne, oysters and smoked salmon.....well, not every day but one day a year it is truly fabulous. The living creche is in the neighbouring village and everyone wanders around bleary eyed and tired on the 25th as Christmas is celebrated here in France on 24th December with a late feast beginning at 10pm and often ending at 3am. A nap is required!
