The pre-historic cave paintings at Lascaux are justly world famous . Lascaux 4, the museum of cave art at Montignac in The Dordogne now make them accessible to all. Personally I would pay a visit just to admire the wonderful architecture of the building.

Les peintures rupestres préhistoriques de Lascaux sont à juste titre mondialement connues. Lascaux 4, le musée d'art rupestre de Montignac en Dordogne les rend désormais accessibles à tous. Personnellement, je rendrais visite juste pour admirer la magnifique architecture du bâtiment

Cave painting at Lascaux 1V, Montignac, Dordogne, France. This fascinating cave is an exact replica of the original Lascaux which has over 600 parietal wall paintings which cover the interior walls and ceilings of the cave. The 15,000- to 17,000-year-old paintings, consisting mostly of animal representations, are among the finest examples of art from the Upper Paleolithic period. Although the original was closed to the public 70 years ago to conserve the paintings, the replica has enabled tens of thousands of people to experience what the boys who discovered the cave found.
