In Poitiers in the northeast section of the city is a beautiful park called “Parc Floral la Roseraie” which is full of tranquil spaces and stunning plants. There are a huge variety of roses as well as other plants, sculptures and thoughtfully placed seating. Bonus: there’s a coffee shop right next door which serves great coffee and a stunning range of patisseries, salads and sandwiches.

We have an announcement to make! 💚

Chez Hiboux, our 6-person gîte, will be changing to a long-term rental from October 2026. This means that August and September are your final two months to book a holiday stay at Chez Hiboux.

The good news is that our other two gîtes, Chez Tournesol (sleeps 5) and La Petite Maison (sleeps 2), will continue welcoming holiday guests. They can be booked individually or together.

We love filling up the welcome baskets ready for our guests! There's nothing better than arriving after a long journey to find some treats and essentials 🧺

Welcome baskets vary per stay, and sometimes include bits from our garden depending on the season. You can expect tea, coffee, butter, bread, milk, and more! And if you have dietary requirements, please let us know before your stay (we happen to know the best places to find gluten free bread!)

Chez Hiboux, sleeps six in three bedrooms. En suite toilet to master bedroom. 1395€ per week 12/8 onwards

Chez Tournesol, sleeps five. Two bedrooms. One king size and a triple bedroom which is partitioned by curtains into a twin bed area and a single. One bathroom. 1075€ per week 15/8 onwards

La Petite Maison. One bedroom and an open plan kitchen, lounge, diner. 645€ per week. 23/8 onwards

The weather this week has been glorious. We’ve enjoyed the pool but we’ve also been busy updating the outdoor of the gîtes and gardens. Kath’s mum and dad have helped with some very needed fresh coats of paint and Mike has been stacking all our wood for next winter! We're gearing up for a warm week, with highs of 35°C ☀️ which makes our pool the perfect place to cool down! Now officially open for the 2026 season 🏊‍♀️

Craving a last minute half term getaway?

Today we had a trip out to Ruffec, a local town about fifteen minutes drive away from the gîtes. They have a vibrant market on a Saturday morning. 🛍️

As we drove the short journey we counted eight different crops growing in the fields plus a bonus number nine on the way home. 🌱 Can you spot the hop bines? Having come from Kent we were very used to seeing these across the county but this is the first time we’ve seen them in France.

We stopped by a local bar for a glass on the way home. Pool boy was allowed a shandy!! 🍻

Our guests often tell us how much they love the pool! Whether splashing around playing games together as a family, or sitting beside the pool with a book whilst the sun is shining. It's a highlight of their holiday!

And over the last few weeks, we've been working hard behind the scenes (and getting help from a local business) to replace the pool lining and have it looking great ready for the summer season.
