In the last days of Advent, I invite you to use these remaining days to answer the following Call to the Christian Practices of Silence and Solitude.

In light of our current technological revolution

in the midst of great social distrust

in the shadows of profound political discord

we call on Christians

to take up the historic, Spirit-led practices of silence and solitude

as essential, formative disciplines for our time

so that we might grow in our capacity

to truly hear and pay attention to God and

to our neighbours and

resist the destructive and malformative habits of thought and behaviour of our day.

Try taking some time out every day to connect with nature in some way or other, to prepare the way, clear the boulders, pause on the path of life, reconnect with your soul, so as to receive the incarnation of the divine as you touch the divine on yourself.
