Fillet is still a massive treat despite producing beef, as we sell the majority of the prime cuts... can take a bit of getting used to, but a good one like this is easy to enjoy.

Wine from Chateau Barouillet Monbazar 2019 - a proper sweet, rich, yet complex desert wine, made with indigenous yeasts. A delight.

Like a lot of people this year, we chose a quiet New Year, bringing in 2022 with a celebratory meal and wine pairing effort.

First up, smoked trout, endive and beetroot salad. Salade de truite fumée, endive et betrave.

No, we haven't got trout in the lake (yet!), this was from a small local producer. But the beetroot in the veg garden is only just starting to go funny, despite it being -7 recently!

New hatchlings! Mum decided to sit on just two eggs. We didn't catch her in time to roll any more under, so a small late brood.

Deux nouveaux poussins ! La maman a décidé de couver t**d, mais avec du succès.

Enough of the building site pics, here's something finished (it does occasionally happen!!!).

The bath was one of the many barn finds, previously used to store chicken food. We've probably just put it back where it came from!

Ça suffit avec les photos du chantier, voilà enfin un projet qu'on ait fini. (Ça arrive, de temps en temps!!!)

On a trouvé la baignoire dans une grange, où les anciens propriétaires y stockaient du céréale pour leurs poules. On l'a probablement remit à sa place d'origine!

For today; finish restoring wood paneling, having taken it off to repair the walls behind and build the frame of a bookcase.

As always, Liv's on the lime plaster, I'm in the woodwork. This room is particularly cool, because it's where we're going to set up to record some music over winter 🤘

Tâche du jour; renovation de la boiserie qu'on ait enlevé pour réparer les murs dessous et pour construire la bibliothèque.

Comme toujours, Liv s'occupe des enduits chaux, je m'occupe de la menuiserie. Cette étape est particulièrement cool c'est ici qu'on va enregistrer un album cet hiver 🤘
