Last Saturday's lively market, basking in full sun, was a winner! Packed with delicious, untreated and organic local produce, artisan products & so much more, to a soundtrack of local buskers playing Django Rheinhardt and trad french tunes. The forecast is also looking good for the visiting 'Festival Off' (16/17 July) a free 2 day programme of theatre, puppetry, music and circus.. The summer is off to a good start!

Rain and more rain; 3 lovely male cyclists came to stay last night, had to hose them down in the garden! Todays saturday market, normally the highlight of the week was a washout, but managed to find delicious cherries , strawberries and olive bread. It felt so wintry had lamb sausages with mash and peas followed by Brendons 'exotic rice pudding with a hint of bayleaf...should we start an Etape Etoile recipe book?

Our newly opened backpackers hostel in the heart of St Girons is at the gateway to the Pyrenées. Great accommodation at reasonable prices. Dormitory for 4, rooms for 2 and 3 with sunny balcony, and charming private studio.
