☀️ Who said summer is over?

It may be October, but here at Aux Petits Lardons we're still enjoying plenty of sunshine and beautifully warm days!

And yes… we're still open!

Our campsite and swimming pool are open all year round, so there's no need to wait until next summer for a little escape to the French countryside.

October can be a wonderful time to visit southwest France: fewer busy roads, peaceful countryside, plenty of sunshine and, on days like these, still plenty of time to enjoy a dip in the pool.

The seasons may be changing, but life at Aux Petits Lardons carries on.

In Dutch we say: oost, west, thuis best.

We weren't really at home, but at a restaurant in our village, Le Coin.

A 20 minute walk followed by smiling faces serving our lovely food. What else can you wish on a sunny Sunday afternoon in September?!

Meat-eater as I am: foie gras and the steak tartare. Patrick had the gaspacho oeuf parfait, viande du marché and dessert du moment. All very tasty!

🫖 Something new is brewing at Aux Petits Lardons…

Today we had a little Petits Tea test afternoon!

We’ve been thinking about adding something extra for our camping guests next season — something delicious for those afternoons when you fancy sitting down, enjoying a pot of tea or a coffee, and having a little treat.

So today we tested our very first Petits Tea.

A little bit savoury, a little bit sweet, homemade treats, a mini smoothie… and of course a little glass of bubbles to start. 🥂

And yes… we had a lovely little test panel to help us decide what works, what doesn’t, and what needs tweaking.

The verdict?
We loved it!

We’re still playing with the details — including the final selection and price — but we think this could become a lovely addition to Aux Petits Lardons in 2027.

What a great week!

🌿 Sometimes, you need to see things from a different perspective… 🌿

From up here, you can really see just how much space surrounds us at Aux Petits Lardons.

Our home, the pool, open fields, trees, little hidden corners… and if you look closely, tucked away at the back among the trees, you might even spot our campsite.

We love that our guests can enjoy the peace and quiet of the French countryside, while still having plenty of space to relax, explore and simply breathe.

This is our little corner of southwest France. And we feel very lucky to call it home.

🚲🌍 One little campsite. Four countries. And everyone arrived by bike! 🌍🚲

This weekend, we welcomed cyclists from the Netherlands 🇳🇱, France 🇫🇷, Germany 🇩🇪 and Poland 🇵🇱.

Different languages. Different routes. Different stories.

But they all had one thing in common… they arrived at Aux Petits Lardons on two wheels!

That's one of the things we love about our little campsite: you never quite know who will arrive next, where they've come from or where they're heading. But by the end of the day, there are always stories to share.

Four countries. Lots of kilometres. One little campsite.

And we love it!

☀️ August at Aux Petits Lardons… ☀️

Long, warm days.
Lazy afternoons by the pool and at the riverside.
Not so much fresh vegetables from the garden.
Good food, cold drinks and plenty of stories shared around the table.
And guests from all over Europe coming and going.

August is still very much alive here at Aux Petits Lardons!

And while the busiest weeks of summer may be behind us, September is actually one of our favourite times of year – quieter roads, cooler days and plenty of sunshine still to enjoy.

So if you've been thinking about a little French countryside escape… there’s still time.

🌶️ It’s hot sauce season at Aux Petits Lardons! 🌶️

Every year, we grow our chillies and turn them into our very own homemade hot sauce.

The first batch of 2026 is officially ready:

🍋 Vodka & Lime 🍋

Fresh, fiery, tangy… with just a little kick of vodka.

Made right here at Aux Petits Lardons, with our own chillies and a lot of love.

Now we just need to find out how long this batch is going to last..

🌍 A little international gathering at Aux Petits Lardons!

This weekend, our little corner of southwest France is feeling very international!

Our campsite is happily full with guests from the Netherlands 🇳🇱, Belgium 🇧🇪, France 🇫🇷 and Italy 🇮🇹, while our villa is home to lovely guests from Spain 🇪🇸.

Different languages, different countries, different holiday stories… but all enjoying the same peaceful little spot here at Aux Petits Lardons.

And of course, no full house is complete without a good dinner! On Friday evening we served up a big pot of homemade Mexican stew – always a favourite when there are hungry campers around!

We love seeing our place buzzing with life like this.

And tomorrow… we start all over again!

From Monday, we have spaces available again on the campsite, so if you're still looking for a little getaway in the French countryside, you might just be in luck.
