📍 Another lovely local restaurant to add to our recommendations!

We’re delighted to see Le Cheval Blanc in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche open under its new Belgian chef, Danny Dupont, serving generous bistronomic cuisine using local producers and artisans. 🇫🇷🇧🇪🍴

And particularly good news for our guests at Le Petit Bois — they’re open on Mondays, for both lunch AND dinner! 🎉 Anyone who has spent time in rural France will know just how useful that is, when so many restaurants are closed on a Monday.

Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche is around 30 minutes from us and well worth a visit, so this looks like a great new place to combine with a day out there.

From 11 to 16 August, Pompadour will be buzzing with horse-themed festivities, culminating in a big day on SATURDAY 15 AUGUST, the highlight of the Horse Festival! 🥳

On the programme: equestrian shows, horse shows and horse races, taking place across the Château, Puy-Marmont and the Hippodrome! 🏰

🔲 Tuesday’s weather forecast 👇(Merci La Météo Correziénne) 🌞

A welcome bit of coolness this morning 😀 with temperatures at 6am generally ranging between 8 and 17°C

◾ It looks set to be very sunny ☀️ from morning to evening, with temperatures rising🌡️ as the day goes on. Compared to yesterday, it’ll easily be 5 to 7°C warmer ↗️
A light, variable wind may blow in gusts of 15 to 35 km/h.

◽ Maximum temperatures:
29 to 37°C 🌡️

🔲 From midday on Wednesday, we’ll be under a yellow heatwave alert 🟡🌡️

◾ A slight change to the forecast:
It is not certain that an orange 🟠 or even red 🔴 heatwave alert will be issued, despite the temperatures forecast for Wednesday, with localised highs of 40 to 42°C still expected!

In meteorological terms, we’re closer to what’s known as a heatwave peak 🥵 lasting 48 hours, with temperatures set to drop slightly on Friday as a vast trough approaches, bringing slightly cooler air in from the Atlantic. If we look at the criteria for a heatwave, which is three days, these would not be met as it will only last two days.

However, this good news brings with it some bad news: this *trough will be associated with a clash of air masses ⚡ which could generate localised but sometimes severe thunderstorms ⛈️, particularly between Thursday and Sunday – to be confirmed and refined.

*Thalweg: an extension or outcrop of a low-pressure system that can stretch for thousands of kilometres, generally associated with thunderstorms and stormy conditions ⛈️
