I will be closing this account in February.

If you’ve come to enjoy regular insights into life in Gers, you can follow my Saskia Holtkott page, where I’ll continue to

We have closed Le Petit Cochon Chambres D’Hôtes.

Thank you so much to all of you who have been our welcomed guests.
And those of you who have followed our hosting, cooking, gardening, and baking updates on-line.

Hosting guests from all over the world and being ambassadors for Gers and for our village has been rewarding beyond expectations.
Some of our guests have become local residents and some have become friends. All are part of happy memories.

Merci beaucoup and thank you!

I was lucky to get 2 kilos of Seville oranges yesterday. So today being wet and windy was the perfect time to make this year’s batch of marmelade.

So here’s how that bread-bake went:…I’m struggling with many of my bakes at the moment. Need to practice some more!

Such beautiful light-fall through the stained glass windows of our village church today. 🥰

Tomorrow will be a bread baking day. ‘George’ my sourdough starter is smelling gorgeous and blowing bubbles in readiness for some nice loaf making.

Just back from a few days in Co. Kerry, where I grew up. It made me realise: I’m very lucky to feel at home in multiple places despite having no roots anywhere.

The distilling of Armagnac is an annual celebration. A celebration of heritage, culture, skill and the land.
The result is a fine spirit that’s as unique as the producers who make it.

Inside the beautiful cathedral in Condom. This is one of the many stops along the route to Santiago, where pilgrims can get their ‘stamp’ to evidence the progress of their journey.
But even if you’re not following the route to Spain, the Cathedral and its cloisters are beautiful to visit. And if you’re lucky, you might catch a concert in progress or a glimpse of one of the Musketeers 😉

Andrew and Saskia

In August 2018 ‘What if’ turned into Le Petit Cochon. We’d been married for ten years and realised that we were not spending enough time together. Not nearly enough. We also talked more and more often about our shared dream of opening a Bed and Breakfast together in France. A place that would bring together all the things we enjoy when we go on holiday. Relaxed comfort. Quality without stuffiness. Great service. Charm and character. And good food. Somewhere to relax, unwind, recharge. Somewhere to go slow.

We’re pretty sure we’ve found all that and more here in the Gers. And hopefully you’ll experience it when you come and stay with us, at our home, at Le Petit Cochon.
