Gites Limousin The rental of holiday gites in France. Or, you could just relax in the sunshine, breathe in the fresh air and forget about the burdens of everyday life.

We have been welcoming guests since 2015 in our two lovely, side-by-side holiday cottages; nestled in the beautiful countryside in the sleepy hamlet of La Besse, Videix. Two wonderful quality gites or french holiday cottages, uniquely decorated and furnished with antiques and vintage pieces in the heart of the Haute Vienne region of the Limousin / Nouvelle Aquitaine countryside. We are located just 5 minutes from the nearest leisure lake, with warmer waters than the sea you can experience lake-swimming on a sandy beach, hire sail boats, windsurfers, paddle boards or canoes. In the summer months there is also the choice of 3 lakeside bistros, serving refreshing ices, cool drinks and light meals. Nestled within the Perigord-Limousin Park Natural, the countryside is on your doorstep ready to explore and ramble away to your hearts content. The perfect region for walking, running or cycling with quiet roads & pathways that meander through tiny hamlets and leafy woodland. Close to the Charente and Dordogne borders, you will find everything you need within 30 minutes of the door from towns, shops and markets, to chateau and churches; through adventure parks, horse riding, golf and of course fishing.

Wisteria: I love mine, it always makes me think of my guests Richard & Paddy, who bought it for me as a tiny stick in a pot, back in 2015 … it grows like a triffid, and it took me all day to tame it. But it looks very neat now, entwined on the left with the kiwi, and on the right with the clematis 🌸🌸🌸 I even made time to change the window boxes to their ‘autumn colours’
(It looks more noticeable in real life … honest 🤭

As all around us the local seasonal lakeside businesses start to close their doors until next summer, we too start to change the gites and gardens to prepare for our autumn guests. The soft cushions, parasols and beach toys come in to make way for the more weather resistant furniture and games.
However, the weather seems to be telling me differently, as I look up into the blue sky, the few remaining tomatoes still ripening and being able to comfortably sit outside every night with our guests, enjoying a ‘couple’ of bottles of bubbles …
Hazel is not happy that her cushions are going away, and Jeoff is still positive he can still eat alfresco… plus, he takes great pleasure in sitting on the window-bench with the warm breeze ruffling through his fur.

Lunch today was spent overlooking the beautiful local lake at Le 16 Beach : just 7km from the gites and their last day of the season.
It’s been a fabulous summer, but as the weather finally starts to change, the lakeside bistro / bars must close their doors until next year. A lovely last memory of summer 2026.

We liked last years delivery method so much we did the same this year : it’s so much easier to stack 12 cube over 3 days than all at once (must be getting old 😂)

Annual Bric-a-Brac at Marsac on Saturday and Sunday; as usual it was held across 4 fields with over 500 stand holders and they say 8000 people attend 🤗
We arrived early, especially as the 6th predicted heatwave of the year was due 🥵; we didn’t buy too much but had a great day exploring, and as is the norm now - took a simple picnic which was nowhere as impressive as some of the stand holders 💞
