Dear friends, at the end of this current winter season, see below an invitation to come to the lovely village of Villar d'Arene, the ideal base to start your winter sport and especially for "nordic skiing" (next winter). At the village church square you will find our cosy hotel/restaurant Gîte les Mélèzes , where you are most welcome for your stay :-) We hope that travelling is possible again soon, and meanwhile "stay safe and healthy" ! Best from Marco.

Le domaine nordique du pays de la Meije a fermé ce week-end. On remercie les nombreux nouveaux skieurs de fond qui nous permettent de faire une excellente saison. On vous donne rendez-vous en décembre prochain pour de nouvelles aventures nordiques. ;-)

Dear friends, from the cosy village of Villar d'Arene (Hautes Alpes), we wish you a "Merry Christmas". Till later, again, when travelling from abroad and hosting you @ Gîte les Mélèzes (opposite the church, see picture below) will be possible again. Meanwhile, stay stafe and keep healthy :-)

Dear friends,
just to share a nice picture with you (see info below), taken from the "'Lac du Pontet", which from our cosy Gîte les Mélèzes is only approx an hour walking or so, away. Till later, again, when travelling and hosting you coming from abroad will be possible again, and meanwhile, stay stafe and keep healthy :-)

Dear friends, we are pleased to say that Gîte les Mélèzes à Villar d'Arène will open coming 20 may for "take-away" meals. Open all days apart from monday and tuesday: Pizza in the evening; burger and kebab with french fries for lunch time and in the evening. Please call beforehand to place your order in advance :-) by telephone: +33 476799059. And hopefully, borders will open again soon as well, fingers ###

The History of Gîte Les Mélèzes, Villar d’Arène, from the 18th century to now.

In the 18th century, after the fire that ravaged the village, a farm was rebuilt opposite the church. The farmers lived in a large room, now the dining room, with the cows and animals that gave them heat in the winter. Around 1930, the farm became a guesthouse.

Since 2005, Frédérique and Denis Allirand are the new managers of Gîte Les Mélèzes and they transformed the building to accommodate an individual clientele in a hotel setting: the dining room with vaulted ceiling and furniture in larch, the restaurant with quality and homemade cuisine with regional products and local recipes, the rooms with sanitary facilities, the sauna, the bike room, the ski room and a beautiful terrace in the summer. All in a friendly atmosphere.
