What an incredible celebration to be part of! 💙

We're delighted to see these wonderful moments from Alannah and Liam's wedding day captured so beautifully by Logan.

From the surprise performance by the Singing Waiters that had guests singing, dancing and even joining a conga line, to the heartfelt speeches and the electric atmosphere throughout the day, it was truly a wedding to remember.

It was an absolute pleasure to host Alannah, Liam, their families and friends here at Maryculter House. Congratulations to the happy couple, and we wish you both a lifetime of love, happiness and unforgettable memories together. ✨

A huge thank you to all the talented suppliers who helped make the day so special.

Last week we had the pleasure of hosting TML Travel Group Limited ,with the support of VisitAberdeenshire, as they returned to Aberdeenshire after 25 years. Their visit was filled with reflection, reconnection, and a renewed appreciation for the relationships that make travel so meaningful.

Moments like these remind us that Maryculter House is more than just a place to stay — it’s a place where stories continue, partnerships grow stronger, and memories are revisited and created all over again.

We’re proud to be part of journeys like this and look forward to many more chapters ahead.

For more than three decades, Scotland has been the landscape where I’ve built journeys, relationships and memories — both for myself and for the guests who travel with us. But every so often, it’s important to step back, get out on the road, and reconnect with the places and people who shape t...

We were invited to try out the new spring menu at Poachers in Maryculter House last night for our 28th wedding anniversary and it was a lovely way to celebrate 🥂

Everything felt really well thought out – seasonal, balanced and quietly confident. No fuss, just very good food done properly with service and surroundings to match.

I started with the slow poached Katy’s egg – soft, rich and full of flavour with asparagus and wild garlic. One of those dishes that sounds simple but really delivers. For mains I had the duo of lamb which was beautifully cooked and perfectly balanced by the morels, peas, spring greens and wild garlic.

Across the table, the satay crab had a fresh punch to it and the pork tomahawk was a proper plateful.

We didn’t have any sides or sauces and in hindsight I wish we’d been offered or prompted, as I stole a few of my husband’s chips to stretch my plate and he would’ve happily gone for a sauce.

I’m not really a pudding person unless it’s rhubarb so the Textures of Rhubarb couldn’t have been more up my street. An absolute work of art, perfectly balanced between sharp and sweet with amazing contrast in textures. Chefs kiss to the pastry section. 🩷 My husband finished with a selection of British cheeses and the last of the red wine, both spot on. I matched my rhubarb with a second glass of Champagne🍾

The whole place has that relaxed but polished feel – ideal for a special occasion without being at all stuffy.

A really lovely anniversary dinner just a short drive from Aberdeen (and from us in Stonehaven).

Spring has arrived at Maryculter House 🌼🍽️

AD

I was kindly invited along to Maryculter House to try out their new spring menu at Poachers, their in house restaurant. I feel incredibly lucky for this opportunity, getting to visit a new place and taste some fantastic seasonal dishes.

🌿To start we ordered the Pan Roasted Wood Pigeon, Slow Poached Katy’s Egg and shared the Homemade Bread with Pesto Houmous. The pigeon was cooked perfectly, seared on the outside but beautiful red in the centre. It was very tender and went well with the burnt leek puree. The poached egg had a runny centre, just as you would expect, served with Parmesan crusted asparagus and Hollandaise sauce. The homemade bread was warm with a fluffy centre, it was a tear and share style loaf. I loved the idea of the basil pesto hommous that accompanied it.

For our main course we decided to opt for the seasonal options of Halibut and the Lamb Duo. The vadouvan veloutè was simply divine. A mild curry spiced sauce which was served with the halibut. This was accompanied by roasted cauliflower and monks beard, which is similar to samphire in flavour. My main course consisted of lamb rack and braised lamb belly, morel mushrooms and wild garlic pesto. You must order a side of Handcut chips when you visit. They are some of the best I have tasted, almost too good to share. We also sampled the maple and sesame glazed piccolo parsnips. A great combination.

🍋‍🟩The desserts were showstoppers. Gorgeous presentation with unique flavour pairings. We tried the White Chocolate Panna Cotta with kaffir lime leaf and basil oil. The chefs got the wobble texture just right. The Textures of Rhubarb with meringue and lemongrass sorbet was a refreshing way to end the meal. It was sweet with a hint of sharpness. Very light and fruity.

Service at Maryculter House is five star. Our server kept our water topped up and was very attentive. Food came out at the ideal pace, leaving a good amount of time between each course before moving on to the next. The menu features many Scottish drink options. We tried the Summerhouse Drinks Raspberry Lemonade and Braes O’Gowrie Sparkling Elderflower (non-alcoholic wine) 🥂
