Did you know that Lurgan Farm Sheepdog Demonstrations is right next door to our site?

We are hearing rave reviews, it’s not just a tourist attraction, it’s a real family farm run by Ann and Gert. The demo will give you a real insight into the work of a shepherd.

Stay on the Aire and you will likely see Gurt drive past on his quad bike with several of his beloved border collies on the back.

Coming soon. We are in the process of setting up our new coffee cabin and shop.

Please welcome House of Dull based in the historic Appin of Dull.

We will be moving our strawberries and eggs into the cabin in the coming days and stocking our freezer and display fridges with delicious Scottish produce.

This all started with a motorhome stopover, not sure where it will end but enjoying the journey.

What do you think of our name?

Please follow for updates.

Opening Soon!

Get ready for some delicious Arran Ice Cream from House of Dull self service cabin.

Opening soon for bean to cup coffee, soft fruit, select Scottish produce and an expanding range of local and hyper-local everyday and gourmet food.

Whether it's an after-school snack of fresh strawberries and ice cream for the children, or place to stop on your tour of the highlands or simply a convenient place to grab some eggs and firewood, we hope to see you soon.

Yes that is our name. We are located in the Appin of Dull and are totally fine with leaning into this historic name.

We are located adjacent to our sister enterprises Aberfeldy Aire - Motorhome Stopover and Breadalbane Storage Ltd just opposite the Camserney junction on the B846.

Here are some drone images of our stopover and shop site. You can see the waste point in the bottom right and along that fence we have our self service shed with a range of compost and garden care materials.

You can see the beech hedging that I planted in 2024 is doing well but still has a long way to go.

Also you can see the new cabin shop in the last photo. This is now powered up and is planned to be open, with a limited initial range, shortly.

One of the features that makes our site so great is the large bell mouth entrance with good line of sight visibility. This is left over from the days that our site was developed as groundworks contractor's yard.

Oh and thats me standing in the entrance to the stopover. The stopover entrance is a bit wee and I plan to widen it in the coming weeks and potentially re-site the waste compound within this area if it will fit.

A reminder of a post from August 2024 about our reclaimed school bike shed and self service shop plans.

Well things have certainly moved on since then. We now supply, firewood, kindling, peat-free compost, top soil, bark, soft fruit and eggs.

We are also just a couple of weeks away from opening our cabin shop that will serve bean to cup coffee, ice-cream and local produce.

We will aim to stock items from as local as possible, but may have to reach further afield for some stock.

We have had initial discussions with suppliers who are just minutes from us and we hope that this will result in hyper-local produce such as venison, lamb, locally grown produce and baked goods.

The field next door is barley for the whisky trade, it may be a wee while before we are able to get that in your shopping basket.

New life for an old Bike Shed. Our new self service shop.

A few weeks ago, one of the school bike sheds was blown down in a storm. I spotted it on the back of scrap truck and chased the driver down, agreed a price and had the parts delivered to our site.

This morning we employed the local blacksmith (with an extra pair of hands from yours truly) to repair and erect the shed. He also added more structural bracing to avoid a repeat of the storm damage.

Our plan is to close off the rear of the structure with wooden fencing, then add a solar powered security camera and a paypoint/cash box to create a self-service shop for passing customers and also guests.

We feel that firewood, charcoal and kindling could be popular with locals and visitors, however, there are likely to be more products that could be stocked.

One local business has suggested bird seed, its a good idea, provided we can rodent (and bird proof) the supply, but what would you stock or like to see stocked?

I would be grateful for any ideas and especially items that motorhome guests would find useful. The open nature of the structure does restrict us, however, we could introduce cabinets so nothing is totally out of the question.

NB: We currently do not permit fires anywhere on site, but may review this next time our insurance premium is up for renewal.

Road is closed today until 2pm and so we set out early to get some digger work in. Bacon and egg roll cooked over an open fire for second breakfast.

Playing some music over the blue tooth. Trying to be motivational for the riders.

Playlist Suggestions welcome.
