Not sure if this will be useful to our motorhome visitors, however, we will soon benefit from a public EV charging station onsite. Oh and a shop too.

We have been offered grant funding from the Rural and Island Infrastructure Fund for a new public EV charging station.

Soon Aberfeldy will boast two 50kw DC public charging stations. This will surely encourage more EV drivers to visit our fantastic town.

This news is the icing on the cake this week. We are also expecting our bean to cup coffee vending machine to be installed on Friday. Plus, we are on final fit for the self service cabin and expect to be opening within days.

Help save us from up to a planned 40% tax hike that will close our stopover.

Perth and Kinross are planning a £4 a night visitor levy. [edit £4.80 inc VAT]. If they go ahead, we will be forced to close.

The proposed scheme will see luxury hotel guests paying a levy of less than one percent whilst small stopovers and rally hosts will be forced out.

There is a consultation, you have to plough through lots of leading questions before the final question of whether you oppose the scheme or you can get email [email protected]

Please respond and say no to the levy. Any form of levy will automatically be applied to stopovers and even if it’s low it will cause unnecessary red tape that will cause many site owners to reconsider whether it’s worth staying open or setting up in the first place.

Water Update: Sadly we failed the bacteria test. It was a score of one - the lowest reading you can get, so it can be rectified with a new filter and thorough flush through. Unfortunately, the 20 inch filters we purchased are actually 19" 1/4' and totally useless, so we will have to wait for new filters. The filters arrive Monday and we have booked a resample on Wednesday. It's likely that we will have the results a week on Monday. Fingers crossed it works out.

I have been drinking the water for a couple of weeks, tastes lovely but I can't offer it to guests until it's confirmed pukka.

Water update: Today Perth and Kinross Council visited as part of our Public Water Supply Risk Assessment. Our treatment system and borehole passed the assessment. Now we have to wait for analysis of samples before we are approved to supply to the public.

The project was started last year when we had the borehole lined thanks to the amazing help of a motorhome guest, who came back out of retirement as a borehole engineer to work on refreshing our borehole set up after it had lain fallow for over ten years. More recently, we have run pipework out to our service point and House of Dull cabin shop. This involved digging through a four metre high embankment.

We are hoping that guests and service point users will soon be able to access potable water on site.

We may introduce a modest increase to our pricing to reflect the costs associated with setting up and maintaining a safe public water supply.

Look what I found in the kindling shop. Thankfully not much demand, so the nest was not disturbed until just now.

The single egg is cold to the touch, so I suspect it is a dud. I will leave it there for a wee while to be sure. Also no bird giving alarm calls or trying to distract me.

We had pied wagtails hanging around for a while, perhaps it’s one of theirs?
