With cosy cottage-on-the-water vibes, our lovely Beaumaris Castle is perfect for a relaxed week away. Beaumaris Castle has a fixed double and a dinette that converts into an additional double bed, making it an ideal holiday option for anyone looking to escape the noise and rush of everyday life. Unlike her namesake, our Beaumaris Castle Narrowboat is based in South Wales on the Mon and Brec canal. The canal winds its way from Brecon to Pontypool, allowing visitors to explore southern Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) in all their glory.

All our boats are named after Welsh Castles. Here is some history on Kidwelly Castle, the namesake for one of our largest boats 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Kidwelly Castle is a well preserved Norman castle located in the town of Kidwelly in Carmarthenshire, southwest Wales.

Kidwelly began in the early 12th century as a Norman ‘ringwork’ castle made of wood and protected only by an earthen bank and ditch.

Not surprisingly it was under constant attack by Welsh princes including the Lord Rhys, who captured it in 1159.

Kidwelly was used as a location for the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, appearing in the very first scene.

Here comes the sun! Shorts, sunglasses and suncream will be needed if you’re out and about on the canal this week.

The canal is beautiful regardless of the weather, but in the sunshine, there isn’t a better place to be.
