Behind the scenes at Brylach Steading ✨
We’re continuing to restore more original style features and this time it’s at the lovely front entrance to the courtyard.
We want our guests to have a really good first impression as well as light on arrival in the darker months.

Let’s go Beyond Brylach….along part of the beautiful Moray Coastal trail 🌊 ☀️
This time we explored the coastline around Primrose Bay, Hopeman and Burghead - with bright blue skies, stunning sea views and some proper fresh Moray air.
From quiet beach walks and dramatic coastal paths to colourful harbour scenes and golden sand, this stretch of coastline is one of our favourite easy short day trips from Brylach Steading 🩵
Edna came along for the adventure too of course! 🐾
And if you listen carefully you might also hear (and spot 👀) a few typhoon jets training overhead from nearby Lossiemouth ✈️ - something that always makes a walk along this coast feel even more memorable.
One of the many reasons we love it here is just how much variety there is nearby - woodland, whisky trails, castles, mountains and coastline all within east reach.

Let’s go Beyond Brylach…to the Gordon Castle Highland Games 🏰 ✨
Our first Highland Games of the season - and despite the rain it was such a brilliant day ☔️
From pipe bands and Highland dancing to heavy events, food stalls and plenty happening throughout the grounds, theres something very special about the atmosphere at a traditional Scottish Highland Games.
One of the best things about staying at Brylach Steading is how many fantastic days out are right on the doorstep - Gordon Castle is only a short drive away.
And with plenty more Highland Games happening across Moray Speyside and the Highlands throughout the summer, this is just the beginning.
Rain or shine….. definitely work experiencing at least once.

Let’s go Beyond Brylach… to Balmoral Castle 🏰 ✨
Just over an hour from Brylach Steading, this makes the perfect day trip - especially as the journey takes you through STUNNING cairngorms scenery along the way 🏔️.
We spent the day gathering a little inspiration for Brylach, admiring the beautiful stonework, gardens, flowers and greenhouse - and of course paying close attention to the clocks in the clock towers 👀 🕰️
With Brylach and Balmoral sharing similar heritage, materials and history from the same period, it’s always fascinating spotting the little details and ideas we might bring back home with us.
There are so many incredible places to be explored from castles and coastlines, to woodland walks and whisky trails.

Springtime mornings at Brylach Steading 🍃 ✨
A little wander around the courtyard enjoying the sunshine in Speyside.
Each cottage is unique:
🏠 Coachman’s Cottage sleeps 4
🏠 The Hayloft sleeps 2
🏠 The Bothy sleeps 2
And together the whole steading offers plenty of room for everyone to gather, relax and enjoy!
We’re also dreaming up a few more little updates…
🕰️ Brining the clock tower back to life (watch this space!)
🎨 And choosing the perfect colour to repaint the main gates - classic? Bold? We can’t quite decide..
And of course no morning is complete without a visit from Patrick 🐾 - see if you can spot him!

As the sun sets over the courtyard, there’s nothing better than gathering around the warmth of a log burner. ✨🔥
Just in time for the start of the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, we’ve created the perfect spot for our guests to relax, unwind and soak up those cosy evening vibes after a day of whisky adventures.
Golden hour, good company, and a crackling fire under the Speyside sky… we think this might become everyone’s favourite spot at Brylach!
