Harry’s Story

My name is Harry, and my story is one of resilience and hope.

In 2022, after being adopted into a home that couldn’t cope with my needs, I came to Halfpenny-Farm; a place that I now call home.

My journey to this sanctuary began in distant Macedonia. I had a dreadful start in life: I was found during a snowstorm, lying outside, battered and broken. My front leg was badly set, and my hip had sustained significant damage. As if that weren’t enough, an x-ray revealed something even more harrowing: I had been shot, and a pellet was lodged in my body; a silent reminder of the cruelty I had experienced.

At Halfpenny Farm, I have found safety, care and compassion. The farm is always bustling with activity, and nothing brings me more joy than seeing the volunteers who dedicate their time to helping out. They’re my special humans, and every time one of them stops by, I know I’m in for a generous helping of cuddles!

Now, I must confess, I have a rather enthusiastic fondness for food. Mealtime is my favourite time of the day and my appetite occasionally leads me down some peculiar paths. It’s not that I mean to cause trouble, but let’s just say my culinary tastes extend beyond the usual fare. Glasses and remote controls? Well, they’ve been known to find their way to my impromptu taste-testing sessions. My curiosity gets the better of me sometimes, though I certainly wouldn’t recommend either as snacks!

As much as I thrive on human company, I must admit that I’m a little less enthusiastic about hanging out with other dogs. I prefer to keep my social circle focused on two-legged companions rather than four. Perhaps it’s just the way I am: a unique soul with my own quirks.
