Did you know that Aboyne is home to some of Scotland’s best mountain biking trails?

Whether you're into cycling for softies, mountain biking thrills, or you're a hardcore road racer, Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms National Park offer two-wheeled adventures for everyone. 🚵‍♀️

Aboyne is a fantastic base for exploring some of Scotland’s best biking terrain. From fast descents and forest single track in Glen Tanar, Cambus O’May, and the Aboyne Bike Park, to scenic, low-level trails along the former Deeside railway line, there’s a route to suit every level of rider.

Best Walks Around Aboyne 🥾

Whether you're looking for a gentle stroll or a full day hike, Royal Deeside offers some of the best walking in Scotland – all within easy reach of The Invergarry.

🌳 Glen Tanar Forest Circuit – Discover serene pinewoods, spot red squirrels, and follow winding forest paths along the Water of Tanar. Peaceful and scenic, it’s a great mid-length trail for all abilities.

🌊 The Deeside Way – Aboyne to Dinnet – Follow the old railway line with river views, woodlands, and charming villages en route. Mostly flat and ideal for a relaxed morning walk.

🌿 Loch Kinord Circular – A nature-rich loop around a beautiful loch in Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve. Look out for waterfowl, ancient ruins, and even an Iron Age crannog!

🐾 Red squirrels are a rare and wonderful sight in the UK – but here in Royal Deeside, they’re thriving. Keep your eyes peeled during your stay – especially in the early morning or late afternoon.

🎨 Art Aboyne is back for 2025!
One of our favourite local events returns this summer, bringing an inspiring showcase of artists, makers and creators to the heart of Royal Deeside.

If you're staying with us between 19th July and 9th August, be sure to pop into the exhibition at Aboyne’s Victory Hall – admission is free and there’s something new to see every day! 🖼️

From watercolours and wildlife photography to ceramics and sculpture, it’s a brilliant way to connect with the creative spirit of Deeside.
