Great Glen Way in a Day. ✔️
As John summarised at the end... it's amazing what you have to do these days to keep a marriage alive. 😂
23 hours of sunshine and rain, blisters and pain, laughs and tears. 72 miles - 152 thousand steps 😬
I suffered through the middle section while under-fuelling, and dehydration took its toll on John over the final stretch. Somehow, we still made it to Fort William in under our 24-hour target and mostly in one piece.
The amount of support on our live updates was unbelievable. We've only just got around to reading all the comments and messages of encouragement. Thank you to everyone who followed along and cheered us on throughout the day. 🙂
A huge thank you to Dad for being our support crew, meeting us at every checkpoint with supplies, encouragement and whatever else we needed to keep moving forward. Couldn't have done it without him!
Thanks also to the grannies for looking after the children while we were away and when we returned so we could get some much-needed rest. Very much appreciated!
A special mention to David for the use of his van, which was absolutely priceless — carrying supplies, providing shelter from the rain and acting as our mobile blister clinic. 😂
A big thanks to our coach Pawel Cymbalista, for once again putting together our training plan and providing the expert guidance that gave us the best possible chance of reaching the finish line
It takes a lot of people behind the scenes to make challenges like the West Highland Way and Great Glen Way possible, and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part.
Amazingly, the bodies aren't feeling too bad today. In fact, John has gone fishing for a few hours — never a man to miss an opportunity. 🎣 I'm taking the opposite approach and have my feet up doing very little!
Thanks again for following along.
I think this might be the last time we do something quite this mental...
..but never say never. 😂
