Driving along the road beside Little Loch Broom at Dundonnell you are likely to see some of the wild mountain goats. They come down from the mountains during January, stay for a few weeks whilst having their young before disappearing back into the hills.

October 12th - What a beautiful day in the North West Highlands with clear blue skies and sunshine warm enough to work in the garden of the Old Smiddy in shirt sleeves awith the hills and An Teallach in the background

We had a beautiful sunrise this morning over Laide Wood with An Teallach clearly visible in the back ground. The one provides an easy short but beautiful walk at anytime of the year. The other is much more challenging for the more experienced.

Close to the Old Smiddy is the River Ewe, lnking Loch Marree with Loch Ewe. Just 4 miles long it offers some spectacular mountain scenery and for the first part the estate road beside offers a relatively flat wheelchair friendly walk.

Inverewe Gardens is a wonderful place to visit at any time of the year. There may be flowers in Jnauary and the winter sun in December can be quite stunning.
