Otter sightings at Aird Bay! 🦦✨
They’ve always been around, but these little guys are masters of hiding in plain sight.

Earlier this week, one of our guests had the ultimate surprise when an otter decided to join her for a swim right in the bay! Since then, we’ve been on high alert, and sure enough, this local celebrity has been spotted every single day soaking up the sunshine, catching fish, and relaxing on the shore. ☀️

Here are a few photos captured by us and our lovely guests over the past few days. We’re really hoping our beach becomes its permanent home (and maybe there’s a little family tucked away nearby, too!).

What a difference 12 hours makes! 🌊

While mainland Scotland was dealing with thunderstorms last night, we watched the mystifying haar roll in, which the local rabbits and deer didn’t seem to mind at all!

Fast forward to today, and it has cleared into the most beautiful summer’s day. Absolutely perfect weather for exploring the Isle of Lewis and Harris. ☀️⛰️

Tip when driving to Aird Uig 🚘

The final 5-minute stretch across the moors from the main road feels like driving right into a postcard, especially during golden hour. The low evening sun lights up the landscape beautifully, creating the perfect backdrop for photos ✨

More often than not, the local wildlife will appear right beside you in that stunning golden glow. Just make sure your passenger has the camera ready to go at all times 📸

Between the rushing waterfall, views of Uig Lodge, and a surprise appearance from a local stonechat 🐦, it’s a photographer’s dream out here. If you're lucky, you might even spot a salmon leaping up the river! 🐟
