Cuillich Mill – Travel Trends for 2026 (3-night discount offer)
BBC Travel Magazine recently posted an article entitled “Seven Travel Trends that will define 2026” based on data from the travel industry.
We thought we would check Cuillich Mill B&B against these seven trends and see how we scored.
1. Quiet over everything – A move to escape from the stresses of modern life
✓ - At Cuillich Mill you can immerse yourself in the quiet and stillness of nature, with walks from the doorstep providing that digital detox
2. Gen AI over Admin – Technology taking over from planning
X - Whilst AI is removing much of the admin burden it also has a potential to fuel overtourism. Places are getting over-crowded because of that must get Instagram photo and maybe we’re rushing our holidays just like the rest of our lives. We’re happy not to get a tick against this one as we offer that more personal touch. We can tell you the places to go, away from the ‘Insta brigade’, where you’ll find scenery, history, and culture without the crowds.
3. Trust over choice – Where the guest doesn't have to make decisions
✓ - If it was possible to score more than 100%, we’d get it for this one. We can give you itineraries for each day of your stay for scenery, nature, history, culture, to suit everyone’s preferences.
4. Roads over runways – More people getting their ‘Kicks’ on road trips
✓ - What more can we say? We’re based on the NC500 arguably the best road trip in British Isles.
5. Ultra personalised over one-size-fits-all – The move towards individuality
✓ - We are a small B&B dedicated to providing an individual service for everyone. We will help you experience the holiday you deserve.
6. Off-grid over tried-and-tested – Turning away from overcrowded hotspots that rarely live up to their over-filtered, uncluttered online image
✓ - We are in one of the quieter localities on the NC500 but with easy access to busy areas if you want them. This gives a perfect mix to experience, it’s your choice. Off grid or full on, we can help you with whatever you want.
7. Culture over hedonism – Less nightlife more books, themed stays and ‘set jetting’
✓ - We’ve never really been hedonistic, but you can experience some fantastic live music in the local area. Many however, come here to immerse themselves in a book, or perhaps search out locations from films and TV shows. Of course, we’re just down the road from the famous BBC traitors castle, you can also experience locations from Harry Potter, Outlander, the upcoming Christopher Nolan Film ‘The Odyssey’ and even Batman ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.
Well, a strong 6 out of 7. I think we’re happy with that. If you want to come and experience the Scottish Highlands at Cuillich Mill this summer, we are running a special 10% off for 3 nights or more if you book before the end of February.
