Spot the odd one out.
It’s so annoying when you go above and beyond in circumstances far beyond your control, to make things right and this is the level of appreciation you get. Even more annoying is, because he leaves no comments I have no right to reply directly to the review.
The issue was that there was a power outage which was beyond my gift to control. I acted quickly to get an electrician and ultimately northern powergrid out to deal with the emergency. I found alternative, more expensive accommodation for all guests, directly across the road from the wedding venue at my own expense and ensured that I maintained contact with them throughout. Everyone completely understood and thanked me for being super helpful and then there was this smart arse!

We are incredibly shocked and disappointed to see the 1/10 review score left for your recent stay at Butterchurn Guest House.
While we understand that the power outage was inconvenient, you were enjoying a weeding at the time, your were not staying with us, but, left your children here without my knowledge. it was an external emergency entirely beyond our control caused by a lamppost across the road. Despite this being an unforeseen public utility issue, we went completely out of our way to ensure you were taken care of along with all of our guests.
Instead of leaving you without power, or asking you to leave without anywhere for your children to stay, we personally sourced and paid for alternative, more expensive accommodation across the road at our own expense to ensure your comfort. We were under no legal obligation to absorb these extra costs, but we did so willingly out of goodwill and a commitment to service.
To rate our comfort, cleanliness, facilities, and value so low after we absorbed a financial loss to upgrade your accommodation during a neighborhood utility failure is entirely unjustified and unreasonable.
We take great pride in our small business, and penalizing us with a 1/10 score after receiving premium crisis support is incredibly disheartening and frankly it says more about you as a person than it does about us. My consolation is that you won’t be back.
