Brunton Granary is so inviting - 4 bedrooms and eight happy guests spilling out into the colourful rooms or out onto the paths and tracks that criss cross over our organic farm.

They can sleep easily after a day on the beach, lulled by the sound of Brunton Burn running just underneath their windows.

It is just the moment to go and visit . The rhododendrons have never looked so good and the handkerchief trees, Davidia involucrata, are really eye catching. Find sensory garden and the last of her very special English Florists’ tulips.

, from Gardeners’ World, is giving a talk at Howick on 9 July. But visit Howick at any time and there will be something interesting to see. It is only 20 minutes from Brunton. A world famous arboretum and fascinating place of history, in so many spheres.

Our southern end of is refreshingly empty but it’s lovely to make a 1 minute detour on the drive home past .oldroad and pick up a cup of tea and delicious chocolate brownie.

‘The Old Road’ is a new coffee/tea/smoothie van on the road out of High Newton towards Low Newton. Run by a young local couple, they can offer you a warm drink on fresh spring days, when the wind is in your hair, and a fabulous smoothie when you have the sand between your toes and have been paddling, or even swimming in our sparkling North Sea.
