Discovering Chawton Park Woods: A Hampshire Gem

Our huts are nestled on the edge of the South Downs National Park with a gate that leads right out into Chawton Park Woods.

A sprawling 200-hectare escape that feels worlds away from the daily grind. Whether you're looking for a peaceful stroll or a heart-pumping bike ride, this ancient woodland offers something for everyone.

🚶 For the Walkers: Serenity in the Trees

Walking in Chawton Park Woods is an exercise in mindfulness. The landscape is a beautiful mix of towering beech trees, fragrant pines, and broadleaved sections that change dramatically with the seasons.

The main tracks are wide and easy to follow, making them perfect for families or those looking for a gentle stroll.

In the spring, keep an eye out for carpets of bluebells and you may be lucky enough to find some wild garlic!

In the autumn, the canopy turns into a stunning palette of burnt oranges and deep reds.

🚲 For the Cyclists: From Family Rides to Muddy Fun

While it might not have the extreme downhill runs of a dedicated bike park, Chawton Park Woods is a fantastic spot for two-wheeled exploration.

Perfect for family cycling, the primary forest roads are relatively flat and well-surfaced, ideal for a leisurely bike ride with the kids without worrying about traffic.

Mountain Biking: For those who prefer a bit of dirt, the woodland floor is crisscrossed with natural singletrack.

These trails are unofficial and vary in technicality, offering plenty of roots, climbs, and muddy dips to keep things interesting. Expect some steady inclines—it’s Hampshire, after all! The chalky soil can get notoriously "clippy" (slippery) after rain, so check your tyre pressure.

Whether you're chasing a personal best on the trails or just chasing the kids through the leaves, Chawton Park Woods is one of those spots that reminds you why the Hampshire countryside is so special.

Happy exploring!
