“What an absolutely wonderful place to stay! Menstrie Castle was everything we could have hoped for and more. Staying in a historic castle was such a unique experience, but what really blew me away was the comfort! I can honestly say that the bed was the most comfortable I have EVER slept in, and the luxurious linens made it even better. I don't think l've ever slept so well away from home! The accommodations were beautiful, comfortable, and full of charm. Our only regret is that we booked just one night! We would have absolutely loved to stay longer.
A heartfelt thank-you to our wonderful hosts for sharing such a special place and making our stay so memorable. The care and attention to detail truly made this an exceptional experience.
This was easily one of our favorite accommodations during our trip to Scotland, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. If we ever find ourselves in the area again, we would stay here in a heartbeat!” “❤️🏰

Wow! Where have the last two years gone? 😀

Two years ago, we welcomed our first guests to the Alexander apartment, and we have welcomed many fabulous guests since.

Aptly named "The Alexander apartment”, as it sits directly above the museum at the castle, which I'm sure you will agree is a very fitting tribute to Sir William Alexander.

The two-bedroom apartment, which can sleep up to four adults, is set over two floors. On the first floor, you will find the lounge and dining area, along with a large kitchen, and stairs leading up to a king-size bedroom, a double bedroom and a bath/shower room. With its larger rooms, it's very spacious and has beautiful views of the Ochil Hills.

We love the magical feeling that, when you walk through the archway at the castle, you find the external staircase that leads you up to the Alexander apartment. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

“Great stay - warrants a longer stay than one night! Very comfy beds, great sleep. Lovely to feel you are living in history, with views of hills right outside the landing window. Village amenities close at hand and so convenient for Stirling, and a walk from the door through the Nova Scotia park”

“My family is Alexander, linked back through history to William. My Mom's dad's side. My middle name is Alexander. This is a photo of my cousin Susanne, maiden name Alexander. She, and her husband Roger Jenkins, live in Bozeman Montana, but were in Nova Scotia recently, and made a point of going to this monument. She was thrilled.”

Doors Open Days in Clackmannanshire will be held on Saturday, 26 September, and Sunday, 27 September, 2026.

The county-wide event offers free entry to 26 historic and cultural venues, including local towers, archives, and community spaces.

Why not come along and discover the stories of Sir William Alexander, the Abercrombies, and The Holbournes, all notable residents of Menstrie Castle in days gone by?

“A very unique experience! Tracey is a gracious host with much attention to detail. We stayed a single night, and the location was very convenient for our plans in and around Stirling. The recommended restaurant was extremely good, as we enjoyed one of the better authentic Italian dinners we've had in a long time.
The Baronet Apartment was quaint and very clean and was the quietest overnight rest of our entire trip thus far. Sleeping behind castle rocks is quite the sound dampener! We are glad we stayed in the Menstrie Castle!”
