After 15 years of successfully letting Bamff Old Brewhouse as self catering accommodation, we expanded five years ago to include Gate Lodge, a two bedroom cottage within yards of Britain's most spectacular beaver wetland, The Beaver Hideaway, a hide with a double bed for romantic nocturnal wildlife watching overlooking two beaver ponds; and two beautiful Mongolian yurts in the wooded area at the b

Bamff, a small estate on the edge of the Scottish highlands in east Perthshire, has been home to the Ramsay family since 1232. In the last thirty years, Paul and Louise Ramsay have managed the land with emphasis on ecological restoration; planting native woods, restoring wetlands and reintroducing beavers. The result is an extraordinary and stunning resurgence in nature: plants, birds, mammals, fish, amphibians, insects and fungi; attracting biologists, journalists, nature photographers, wildlife enthusiasts and tourists. We are now launching a new rewilding programme begun on Jan 1st 2020 with the removal of sheep from ten fields - aiming yo create 450 acres of wild land through conservation grazing.

Welcome: Bennliath Travellin’ Band (also known as Joy) and Badleybridge Bacchus (more commonly known as Alfie).
A mare and stallion, visiting Bamff for a few months before heading off in the autumn.
Much excitement amongst the herd immediately, and Alfie has already been busy, though not without some controversy.
Thank you to the great Michael Dewhurst for driving so far with them from England.

Looking very pregnant since March, we were slightly concerned about Loch na h-Uidhe who at 22 years old is one of our oldest mares, and who hadn’t given birth whilst the 3 other c**ts arrived from slightly less obviously portly mums. Well that all changed this weekend with the arrival of a beautiful Beltane boy: Spott. C**t number 4 this season.
[Spott is named after a new rewilding project in East Lothian].

A beautiful evening at Bamff Wildland, with an examination of wonderful trail camera images, often featuring otters, an abundance of sightings of all of our star mammalian residents, and most importantly: a new calf, born today by the oak woods of the west. Welcome Derekanthius. Son of Derek.
