‼️ UPDATE - 09: 15hrs Sunday 3rd December 2023 ‼️

Yesterday we saw further snowfall late at night across the Lakes area.

The gritters and snow ploughs from Westmorland & Furness Council have been out all night and our Lakes based officers have worked 24hr shifts to assist as many people as possible.

We still have significant numbers of people in reception centres.

Please do not travel to the area today unless ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL, that doesn't include coming to look at the snow! Whilst the roads in the towns like Kendal look reasonable many rural roads are congested with snow, ice and abandoned vehicles.

Please don't come and place yourselves at risk or place additional pressure on the local emergency and voluntary services.

Hopefully today will see things move towards normality but please be aware that many local events have been cancelled. If Santa can't make it to the Grotto because of the conditions you know it's bad!
