The Fisherbeck is a handsome stone building, parts of which date back to the first half of the 17th century, with further extensions added during the Victorian era. A short walk takes you to the shore of beautiful Lake Windermere and its pier for lake cruises, or to Ambleside town centre with its cafes, restaurants and shops. There are views from the front of the hotel across to the Lake District

fells, while the attractions of the National Park are accessible by car or public transport, making it the ideal location for your visit. The towns of Bowness, Windermere and Keswick are all just a short drive away and easily accessible via public transport. The Fisherbeck offers the perfect blend of tranquillity and convenience with all the attractions of the Lake District at your door. As dog lovers ourselves, we understand better than most that your furry friends really are part of the family ….🐶

At the Fisherbeck we welcome well-behaved dogs in all of our rooms.

Nowhere, other than the restaurant , is off-limits, for your four-legged friend. Every doggy visitor receives their very own welcome pack to use during their stay which includes doggy treats, bowl, blanket, doggy bed and welcome letter. It will be waiting in your bedroom and can be used during your stay or purchased to take away after. There are also some walking routes and maps in the lounge should you all fancy some serious exercise. If the weather’s warm you can all sit outside on the terrace overlooking the mountains to enjoy your breakfast, and it’s only dog-leap down the road for a dip in the lake if your furry friend gets too hot.

Please note there is a restriction of two dogs per room as maximum and are charged at £30 per stay per dog. When making a reservation please let us know that your four legged friend will be staying also.

Our Story

The Fisherbeck was purchased by its current owner in 2019 and has recently undergone a huge refurbishment project. The Reception, Bar, Lounge and Restaurant have all had a modern update and some of our rooms have been completely refurbished, beds have been replaced in many rooms, we have upgraded the TV’s in the rooms and added lots of little extras such as the coffee machines, drying lines and slippers for our guests. We have upgraded the carpets and soft furnishings in all of our rooms and added new comfortable ‘egg’ chairs and stools. The luxurious linens and towels have all been custom made and we have created a Terrace Bar area to the front of the hotel with comfortable seating, patio heaters and gazebos. But the work does not stop there, we are constantly striving to update and improve, watch this space!

We are perfectly located in Ambleside, The Lake District, with wonderful views of the Lakeland fells and an easy stroll to shops, restaurants & Lake Windermere, which means you can leave the car behind in our private car park and walk the fells right from the front door.

When you are away from home you want to be looked after and comfortable. So let us do that for you at The Fisherbeck.
