Big news from the kitchen!

We are so pleased to be welcoming as our new Head Chef at Rowan - a significant moment for us as we celebrate 10 years as the custodians of Rothay Manor.

Simon comes to us from Michael Caines at The Stafford in London, where he was instrumental in earning its Michelin star this year. He’s also worked in some renowned kitchens like The Ledbury, St Leonards, Climat in Manchester and SOURCE at The Gilpin.

A hugely talented chef, Simon is already bringing a confident new direction to Rowan — introducing a new à la carte and signature tasting menu rooted in modern British cooking, shaped by the exceptional produce of the Lake District and its local suppliers, with subtle European and Japanese influences drawn from his travels.

We can’t wait for you to come and visit - the menu is the best it’s ever been!
