Do you know what makes the perfect bait?

The weather was absolutely stunning on Sunday, so we headed down to one of my favourite beaches for a paddle in the sea. While we were there, I got chatting to a lovely fisherman who was telling me all about the incredible variety of fish swimming around Anglesey.

Apparently Anglesey is one of the UK’s top fishing destinations thanks to the sheer diversity of fish you can catch here. Who knew?! As if to proove his point, he promptly pulled this beauty out of the sea for his tea. He made it look ridiculously easy so naturally I’ve now convinced myself I could do the same. Although knowing my luck, I’d probably catch a cold faster than I can catch a fish.

However it did get me thinking. If you’re staying with us at Mount Pleasant Hideaway why not bring your fishing rod? With miles of beautiful coastline, fantastic fishing spots and plenty of beaches to explore, it’s a lovely way to spend a few hours. If the fish aren’t biting, well, there’s always the local chippy.

Any keen anglers out there? Is fishing really as easy as he made it look?

Did you see the northern lights this weekend?

This was taken by some guests who stayed with us at Mount Pleasant Hideaway and were lucky enough to catch the northern lights from their veranda. It was also the lady’s birthday! What a way to end the day! They also said some lovely things. We feel very happy when our guests are happy.

Ever had anyone tell you you look like someone famous? If so, who?

Apparently, back in the day, I looked like Adam Rickitt. Yes, Nick Tilsley from Coronation Street. He even had a brief flirtation with becoming Prime Minister. I have always wanted to rule my kingdom. Anyway, we’ve all been there. You see a photo and think you’re getting Brad Pitt, only to discover you’ve actually got his slightly disappointing cousin from down the pub.

Sometimes booking a holiday can be a bit like that too. The photos promise paradise but the reality doesn’t quite live up to expectations. Here at Mount Pleasant Hideaway, what you see is what you get. No clever camera angles, no nasty surprises, no pretending we’re something we’re not. Just beautiful accommodation, gorgeous views, private gardens with wood fired hot tubs and somewhere you and your furry friends can properly relax. (You can take a look at our link in the comments.) We might not be Brad Pitt or even Adam Rickitt for that matter but at least we look like our photos.

So tell me, who’s your celebrity lookalike? Bonus points if yours is more embarrassing than mine.

Now then, chips with gravy, mushy peas, curry sauce or just vinegar? What’s your preference?

I’m a northerner so mainly anything with a sauce is a winner but no matter what you choose, these chips will taste delicious here at the Port Chippy, Amlwch as they are gluten free and they cook them in beef dripping. (Unless of course you’re a veggie, then this place may not be for you.🤣)

You can find it about 7 minutes drive from Mount Pleasant Hideaway in nearby Amlwch. Get them wrapped and eat them down The Creek or at the lighthouse at Point Lynas, just a cone’s throw away.

The 3 log cabins, 2 cottages and the American school bus each come with a secure garden, wood-fired hot tub, BBQ and fire pit. Dogs are allowed everywhere with an on-site dog park and 5 acres of meadow walk to enjoy. And with a multitude of mountains, beaches, castles and local attractions nearby, there really is something for everyone.

🛌 Each property sleeps 2 in a king sized bed, except The Farm Cottage which has two king bedrooms. No twin options available.

🏖️ A 10-15 minute drive to the nearest dog friendly, sandy beaches.

🍺🍛 2 very good, dog friendly pubs within 2 miles, both with outdoor seating.

🐕 Dogs very welcome and allowed everywhere.

✨Each property comes with its own wood-fired hot tub, perfect for star gazing.
