Who Should Apply
People often ask me who would make the ideal Professional Toastmaster.
Honestly, Toastmasters come from a variety of backgrounds and walks of life, but those who truly enjoy being among others tend to excel in this role.
A good sense of humour, strong organisational skills, and a smart, professional appearance are all beneficial qualities.
Tact, diplomacy, and a genuine dedication to customer service are essential traits.
Experience in drama or theatre is a distinct advantage, and being fluent in another language is always helpful. Clear, articulate speech and a good command of grammar are highly valued. While there are no restrictions on age, maturity and life experience are considered virtues.
Retired or semi-retired individuals often find the role particularly suitable. Flexibility to work weekends, proficiency with computers and email, as well as reliable, presentable transport are necessary. While people management experience can be beneficial, it is not required, as full training is provided.
Applications are welcome from anyone, but the position is especially well-suited to early retirees from professions such as the Police or the Armed Forces, whose skills and experiences are an excellent match for Toastmaster duties.
