ower facilities this is an ideal location between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, with the Scottish Borders less than an hour away. Long Marton is a quiet village 3.5 miles north of Appleby-in-Westmorland with a well run country pub serving excellent meals. Alanholme is three miles from the Pennine Way at Dufton and only a slight detour off the National Cycle Route 68. It is also on the route of Lady Anne's Way with close links to the Settle to Carlisle railway. A perfect base for exploring Appleby’s historic market town, in the beautiful Eden Valley, the Pennines and the Lake District, Alanholme is just off the A66 and so great for breaking a journey to/from Scotland (Glasgow and Edinburgh approximately two and a half hours).
