Our stay with Martin and Penny was so relaxing and in their beautiful and delightful home (not your usual "plastic" b&b, farrrr from it!). From tea and info on arrival, an (accidental!) guided tour of Appledore with Martin (!), a beautiful and spotlessly clean room (Taw) and delicious breakfasts, A*, 10/10!

This is a stunning place to be based - Appledore is a little gem! We loved Instow too and there was more to do and see than you can shake a stick at. The RHS Gardens at Rosemoor were glorious - June is a fabulous time to see the roses in bloom. We also nipped down to Eden Project - very worthwhile. There was a ton more left undone . . . food for thought!!

Thanks to our delightful, entertaining and hardworking hosts (nothing was too much trouble) from Sue and Rob. Keep up the good work guys!

A glut of Home Counties golfers in - all with private bank cheques and phnar phnar voices. "I stayed at a very smart St Andrews hotel last week - and paid considerably more than here - and your breakfast knocked spots off it!" Phnar phnar.....

A guest turns out to be a famous French-based costume designer who worked for Roman Polanski on "Bitter Moon" - which starred Hugh Grant and Kristin Scott Thomas. And won an Académie des César. I thank you.
