The White Horse - October 2023

Overstrand not a bustling place that’s its charm
The White Horse Pub lays just behind me at the top of this road. Small yet well laid out, accommodating and well managed a short walk and you have this beautiful view out to sea

Room
Large and beautifully decorated, very clean, shower and toilet in the en-suite again large and very clean
Cost reasonable (weekend rates and not quite out of season ) for the time of year and as it was a Sunday - Monday stay

Food
Exceptional the choice and freshly cooked well presented and large portions
Cost - as to be expected not expensive

Staff
Landlady greeted and served us quickly and showed us to the room made sure we was happy and gave us the keys very helpful

Restaurant
Lots of tables and space around as you would expect in a traditional pub setting and seating outside
Was a wait on a table but we asked for room service and they brought the food to the room

Parking
We parked on the road outside but it’s quite and safe not problems with traffic wardens etc and the room overlooked the road

Facilities
Well it’s a pub
Wine very nice but a little pricey but you only get what you pay for and decided to have a bottle (cheaper than buying the equivalent by the glass )
Beers spirits and softs again it’s a pub so it’s going to be higher but no more than any other pub really

Last nights stop
Lovely building
Very friendly greeting upon arriving and a nice layout for the pub and restaurant menu looks amazing for the food but I had eaten so nothing for me there was however quite a few people in there and also a couple who were on holiday came back in to pay a bill that they didn’t realise had declined on there card.
Shown to my room and allowed to then get on with settling in after being offered something to drink and I then went back down after for a quick glass of wine
Went for a short walk this morning and the surroundings are beautiful
Room is great and the location seems to be full of history as is the pub which dares back to King Henry VII and there is also a very friendly pub Cat and Dog the landlords have other pubs in there portfolio so may try them out too

The gate keeper A couple of vilifies up but no accommodation

Ok day 10 of my 12 days of Scotland tour and it’s been a tough one getting to see some of the most beautiful places in this country yet they are so out of the way you can’t believe they ever found it twice
Tonight’s stop was again over 4 hours away so most days have had 8-10 hours of driving
Definitely a return visit required to observe the surrounding situated at the head of a loch you can see for miles the room was very nicely laid out with a sea view and shower was again brilliant hot almost immediately
Staff very nice and accommodated me as it was 10pm when I arrived
Only had breakfast but had the Full Scottish and the choice is very good and again cereals and yogurt toast and fruit 🍉 Ashwell as coffee tea and fruit juice can’t fault it and the price is very good peak season from £80 per room per night

Beautiful old building
Traditional Scottish hotel with old fashioned style

Nice walk around the castle too but found a lovely photo shot 2 miles down the road

Touring through Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 this week and next so lots of little hills ( they call them mountains ) up here the little inn I found for last nights stop again is beautiful did a 7km walk which included a walk part round a reservoir and over a weir the view is amazing
The staff were very accommodating and good even though they were newish the young waitress was only her 1st proper shift and she settled in quickly as the pub was very busy

Ok so bit of trek to get here was near Leeds but 4 hours driving later I arrived and well was treated like royalty and what a room

Ok this one I booked, wasn’t sure what it would be like, and it was amazing. Room brilliant in a row of what could have been stable blocks but beautifully furnished and laid out, the Nespresso machine with proper pods great and nice tea too and kettle one side of the bed is a safe the other side is s mini fridge a little bottle of milk is there for you too. The bathroom is a wet room and again well laid out the freebies are from Clarions so quite amazing on the value.
Looking out of the front you can see the outdoor seating sit out in the open or under the shade of the tree. You are made to feel spoilt the menu is packed and very reasonably priced. Oh you will need to book a table when you arrive, the pub is heaving I now it was a hot day but people weren’t put off.

Staff are very welcoming, and helpful the whole experience is great and would be an amazing place to take that special person in your life for a romantic trip and not a lot of traveling involved

Took a 2 km walk as well and the roads are good but busy.

Very nice building I’ve stayed in Forest Row before never in this hotel
Room is modern and spacious, the on-suite too works very well good hot shower and a bath 🛀
Staff very nice and seem to work very well together as they were quite busy all night.
Food was exceptional and the vegetarian options are great too. I had a lamb burger with sweet potato fries after a nice walk through the forest ( the location for whinnie the poohs 100 acre wood)
Bed very comfy
Breakfast again exceptional weetabix and yogurt followed by poached egg on toast
Roads were full of cyclists riding so great area for that I was the only nut walking.

Very nice place to stop
Due to location room prices a quite high (as to be expected) so only a single room
Very nice location slap bang in the town centre with good roads, sufficient parking and lots of shops
Room was still quite spacious for a single and has a good on suite another good shower and comfy bed
Food is really good and they have won lists of awards for there home made pies and have a pie shop within breakfast has a good choice of hot and cold
Staff nice and helpful

Welll budget is right with this one
Ok this one I had to think about
It’s a nice place but don’t expect the ritz, saying that probably the most comfortable bed I’ve had just needs a look into how to bring the standard up
I know the room price £50
No breakfast or evening meal so this is just a room staff friendly not that he had to do much
Ideal location for the beach and the pier walked to the pier and back total distance of 4.5km nice walk some steep steps down and back up and a hill at the end roads are good for cycling and poor parking in the area reasons for low marks
Room and on suite very clean just do with a lick of paint and coordinating bedding would finish it off

First time here and lovely building nice area for walking and cycling large spacious car park in a twin room but still very nice x only one member of staff on but seems to be s quiet night and it was passed 8pm when I arrived
