Birds, Bees and Butterflies Day 4
The meadow comprising the Latterbarrow Nature Reserve provided a profusion of colourful flowers and a smattering of bees, butterflies and the day flying Burnet moth, during our morning visit.
Warton Crag Nature Reserve had an impressive display of common spotted orchids and goodly number of bees and butterflies together with a hawker dragonfly.

Birds, Bees and Butterflies Day 3

We spent a short but very productive day at Foulshaw Moss Nature Reserve where we enjoyed plenty of acitivity around the new osprey nest which was occupied by two adults and two chicks.
At least two fish were brought in during our visit whilst good photographs were obtained of a common lizard on the board walk
We also had a distant sighting of an albino red deer..

Butterflies, Bees and Birds for Beginners Day 2
This was a tiring but very enjoyable day at an unusually quiet Leighton Moss. We were blessed with dry weather and a little sunshine in contrast to the wet weather forecasted.
Some excellent sightings of marsh harrier, osprey and a family group of great crested grebes set the seal on a memorable day of wildlife watching.

Birds, Bees and Butterflies for Beginners Holiday Day 1

Eight guests joined us for an exploration of the lower slopes of Arnside Knot and the Ash Meadow Estate. Highlights included several ringlet butterflies, plenty of common spotted orchids and a surprise sighting of a dragon!

Castles, murders, comedians and cars of yesteryear all featured in the Lakeland Tour week of May/June 2026. Outings to Blackwell, Laurel and Hardy and Lakeland Motor Museums, as well as Muncaster Castle were delights to supplement the glorious Lakeland Scenery, though misted on this occasion.
Friday evening's talent show organised by Phil Roe revealed an array of unexpected surprises, not least from his wonderful mother waxing lyrical about "Wearing Purple". For the benefit of guests and others interested, there will follow a selection of photographs.

Birds and Wildlife of the Southern Lakes Day 5
More glorious sunshine enhanced our birding visits today. A second morning visit was made to Leighton Moss where several red deer were encountered whilst a walk around Arnside village after lunch provided good views of the Raven's nest on the foreshore.

Birds & Wildlife of South Lakeland Day 3
More glorious sunshine accompanied our morning visit to Foulshaw Moss where two pairs of ospreys now reside.
We rounded off a full evening of bird photos and quizzes with a sing-along.

'Birds and Wildlife of South Lakeland' Day 2
Our group of 18 particiapants made the most of a gloriously sunny (albeit breezy) day to explore RSPB's Leighton Moss Bird Reserve.
We saw all the target birds including marsh barrier, avocets and black tailed godwits as well as hearing a bittern 'booming'. An impressive highlight at th end of the day was observing two spotted redshanks in breeding plumage.
