The Norfolk Arms hotel has a wealth of history and heritage. It’s a charming Georgian Coaching Inn, built over 200 years ago by the 10th Duke of Norfolk. It soon became the local meeting place and a popular resting spot for weary travellers. To this day the Arundel Society for the Prosecution of Thieves and Felons still hold their annual Dinner at this Arundel Hotel - a tradition which dates back

💍 **MEET THE ARTIST – JO STRAIN** 💍

We’re delighted to welcome **Jo Strain** to the **Norfolk Arms Hotel** as part of this year’s **Arundel Gallery Trail**.

Jo designs and handcrafts beautiful **mixed-media jewellery**, working with sustainable materials including **aluminium, gemstones and eco silver**. Her unique and colourful designs are influenced by **world cultures, texture and comfort**, resulting in distinctive pieces that are designed to be enjoyed and worn.

♻️ **Beautiful jewellery with sustainability in mind**

Jo’s use of materials such as eco silver and aluminium brings sustainability into her creative process, while her combination of colour, texture and different materials gives her jewellery its individual character.

As well as creating her own jewellery, Jo also offers **commissions, restringing and repairs**, and is a member of the **Guild of Jewellery Designers** and the **British Pearl Society**.

🎨 **MEET THE ARTIST – CLAIRE STEVENS** 🎨

We’re delighted to welcome **Claire Stevens** to the **Norfolk Arms Hotel** as part of this year’s **Arundel Gallery Trail**.

Claire is a **visual communication designer** who, when she’s away from her desk, turns her creativity to **hand-building and throwing ceramics**. Using her design skills, she creates intriguing ceramic art and sculptural pieces, combining techniques from different disciplines to produce work that is visually striking and unique.

There’s a wonderful story behind how Claire creates her pieces too – **all of her thrown work is made on a 1950s treadle wheel!** Everything else is made by hand. 🏺

🌿 **Creativity with sustainability in mind**

Claire is always looking for ways to reduce her environmental impact. She uses her treadle wheel, UK-sourced clays and recycles all of her clay. She also works with lower-temperature firing clays to help reduce the energy used by the kiln.

And there’s another reason to visit her exhibition this year: **each year Claire creates a distinctive collection of unique pieces exclusively for the Arundel Gallery Trail**, showcasing her creativity and craftsmanship.

🎨 **MEET THE ARTIST – JO DOWERS** 🎨

We’re delighted to welcome **Jo Dowers** to the **Norfolk Arms Hotel** as part of this year’s **Arundel Gallery Trail**.

Jo’s passion is **contemporary watercolour**, with her work particularly inspired by **nature and the landscape**. She loves exploring different techniques and experimenting with a variety of water-based media to create her beautiful and distinctive work.

As well as creating her own work, Jo runs creative watercolour workshops at locations including **Denmans Garden** and **Findon Place**, and is part of **Pallant House Gallery’s team of artist/educators**, delivering workshops inspired by the gallery’s exhibitions.

The Arundel Gallery Trail is underway as part of the Arundel Festival of the Arts, and we’re delighted that the Norfolk Arms Hotel is one of this year’s venues!

The Gallery Trail transforms Arundel into a wonderful celebration of creativity, with artists and makers exhibiting their work in venues throughout the town. From paintings and ceramics to jewellery, textiles, photography, glass, prints and sculpture, there’s so much to discover as you make your way around the trail.
