My kind of Bank Holiday!! 😂🔨🎨
While normal people were presumably relaxing, going out for lunch and generally enjoying the long weekend… I apparently decided it was the perfect opportunity to tackle half the house! 🤦♀️😂
First up — the high-traffic, easily-scuffed areas that seem to need repainting approximately every 8 weeks 🙄 So this time I’ve braved a much more durable Kilkenny Green 💚, freshened up all the skirting boards, given the soft cream walls a new lease of life too and refreshed that beautiful pink in the bathroom.
Then came the kitchen extractor hood. The on/off switch had broken off and, after being quoted nearly £100 just to replace the front section, I thought… absolutely not! 😳 So out came the whole thing and in went a shiny new extractor instead. Much smarter AND it has washable filters rather than those replaceable cloth ones. Result! 🙌
Next on the list… a lovely new Roman blind for the lounge 🪟✨
And because apparently I hadn’t done enough by this point, attention turned outside. The gate had started dropping after enduring a few too many enthusiastic SLAMS 💥😂 So it’s now been treated to two seriously heavy-duty new posts concreted in, a new latch AND a self-closing spring. (Thank you to my partner Mike and son David for labouring this in the pouring rain) 😘
Will the spring stop the gate being slammed quite so hard?
We live in hope… 🤞🤣
So, after several days of painting, drilling, fixing, replacing, concreting and repeatedly asking myself “Why did I start this?”… I am officially SHATTERED..... Again....
But I have to admit, I do love that feeling when I stand back afterwards and everything looks fresh, smart and properly sorted. 😍🏡
Photos and videos of my idea of a “relaxing” Bank Holiday attached… 😂
Anyway… when’s the next Bank Holiday?! I need one to recover from this one! 🤣🍷
