The Smithy Fields Campsite is located in the centre of the quiet village of Alstonefield, with its idyllic setting in the heart of the peak district national park, Alstonefield provides the perfect base for exploring this wonderful area. The Smithy Fields is a small site with limited availability, although in the centre of the village the site has a private location while remaining in staggering distance to the village pub!

There’s so many amazing walks straight from the campsite, over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing a few so save these if your visiting soon for some inspiration on where to explore! This was is the Alstonefield circular via Hall Dale and Milldale, it’s roughly 7.5km but you can extend this to include Dovedale aswell. Route takes you from Alstonefield-Stanshope -Hall Dale- Milldale and back to Alstonefield. Taking approximately 1.5-2hours at a leisurely pace with time to stop for a snack. Maps for this are available on site so you can head out and enjoy!

It doesn't feel like it now but we are weeks away from daffodils and brighter days. January has been the longest month but with February now in full swing it's time for us to start thinking about the camping season ahead and crack on with those reopening tasks and maintenance .
